Au/CeO2 metallic monolith catalysts: influence of the metallic substrate
نویسندگان
چکیده
Ceria-based gold catalysts were successfully deposited on ferritic stainless steel (Fecralloy) and aluminium monoliths. The prepared monolithic and reference powder catalysts were characterized by means of SBET, X-ray diffraction, glow discharge optical emission spectroscopy and scanning electron microscopy–energy dispersive X-ray analysis techniques and tested in the CO oxidation reaction. Characterization results put in evidence the diffusion of cations from the catalytic layer on the surface of the monoliths to the metallic oxide scale and inversely, from the oxide scale to the catalysts, thus altering the catalytic formulation and affecting the CO oxidation properties of the catalytic device. The extension and nature of the modifications produced depend on the nature of the catalysts and the metallic substrate, as well as the reaction conditions applied. These facts must be considered when gold catalysts are supported on metallic-structured devices.

Active Sites and Mechanism for the Water-Gas Shift Reaction on Metal and Metal/Oxide Catalysts
Current industrial catalysts for the water-gas shift reaction are commonly mixtures of Fe-Cr and Zn-Al-Cu oxides, used at temperatures between 350-500oC and 180250oC, respectively. These oxide catalysts are pyrophoric and normally require lengthy and complex activation steps before usage. Improved catalysts are being sought, particularly for lower temperature (e.g., at T<150oC, equilibrium lowe...
متن کاملInfluence of Size on the Melting Temperature of Metallic Nanoparticle
In This paper, the effect of size on melting temperature of metallic nanoparticles (Au, Pb and Bi) is theoretically simulated and explained. In this regard, the cause of difference in various experimental data is introduced, which is the difference between nanoparticles’ grain Gaussian distribution. This volume-depended model with the help of the Gaussian distribution can descri...
متن کاملIn situ studies of the active sites for the water gas shift reaction over Cu-CeO2 catalysts: complex interaction between metallic copper and oxygen vacancies of ceria.
New information about the active sites for the water gas shift (WGS) reaction over Cu-CeO2 systems was obtained using in-situ, time-resolved X-ray diffraction (TR-XRD), X-ray absorption spectroscopy (TR-XAS, Cu K and Ce L3 edges), and infrared spectroscopy (DRIFTS). Cu-CeO2 nanoparticles prepared by a novel reversed microemulsion method (doped Ce1-xCuxO2 sample) and an impregnation method (impr...
متن کاملCeO2-modified Au@SBA-15 nanocatalysts for liquid-phase selective oxidation of benzyl alcohol.
Tuning the interfacial perimeter and structure is crucial to understanding the origin of catalytic performance. This paper describes the design, characterization, and application of CeO2 modified Au@SBA-15 (Au-CeO2@SBA-15) catalysts in selective oxidation of benzyl alcohol. The reaction results showed that Au-CeO2@SBA-15 catalysts exhibited higher catalytic activity compared with Au@SBA-15 and ...
